Why do I need to put a deposit on an order?
ITE specializes in products for dedicated astronomers. Some of these are stock items and require no deposits. However, some products that are special ordered for you, do require a non-refunded deposit. Now, if you cancell your order, then ITE goes forth to sell your special order. Once this is completed, you will receive your deposit back or a portion of your deposit if the item were sold below list price.
First, most of the instruments we are offering are complex and specialized. While we endeavor to put as much information as we can on our web site, there is no substitute for talking to a real, live person. So we prefer to have you call us, and should you choose to buy we handle the transaction over the telephone.
The other reason (equally important) is we have focused our web efforts (so far) on communication and education. Our new site made a big leap forward on these fronts. While we eventually would like to enable on-line ordering this we will do once we think our entire site is firing on all the other cylinders.
